Founded in 1918, Otis College of Art & Design was the first dedicated independent school of art in Los Angeles. One of the best graphic design colleges in Los Angeles, Otis is located in Westchester in Los Angeles, close to LAX Airport and Marina Del Rey. The college is housed in Eliot Noyes’s former IBM Aerospace Headquarters, an American Mid Century Modernist and Brutalist icon. Graduates of the art and design programs at SDSU hold titles such as Graphic Designer, Corporate Image Designer, Layout/Production Artist, Advertising Artist, Print Production Specialist, Graphic Illustrator, and Technical Illustrator, among others. Established in 1961 as the Laguna Beach School of Art, Laguna College of Art and Design (LCAD) serves 670 students enrolled in seven graduate and undergraduate degree programs. This intensive, immersive experience is designed for developing creatives in high school who are 14.5 years of age or older. Summer of Art 2024 will take place in-person at Otis College’s main campus in Los Angeles, CA. When comparing the two- and three-year MFA options, the three-year option is for students funded with an assistantship or fellowship. Along with funding, the University of Florida provides tuition remission for nine credit hours per semester.

A legacy of educating for the creative industries
The Graduate School’s general admission requirements include official transcripts of all previous college and university work, and three letters of recommendation from instructors or persons able to comment on the applicant’s creative work and/or scholarly potential. A minimum grade of C (2.0) or higher is required in all studio and art history courses for all undergraduate majors and minors in the Roski School of Art and Design. A minimum grade point average of 3.0 must be maintained by all candidates for the Master of Fine Arts in Art, Master of Fine Arts in Design and Master of Arts. Since 2005, the School of Fashion has presented collections created by select students and recent graduates during New York Fashion Week and shows hosted by the Academy of Art University itself. One of the most impressive parts of these shows are the collections created through collaborations in textile, knitwear, and fashion design. We believe that to provide our students with a well-rounded fashion education, there must be a balance between classroom academics and real-world experiences.
San Francisco State University graduates are routinely hired at companies such as Apple, Google, Oracle, Wells Fargo, and Kaiser Permanente. Design alumni are also in high demand at companies and studios throughout Silicon Valley. Graduates are Art Directors, Web Designers, User Experience Designers, Brand Managers, Packaging Designers Creative Directors, Layout Artists, Publication Designers, Book Designers, Exhibit Designers, Freelance Designers, and Entrepreneurs. Students in all CCA Design Programs benefit from the lecture series, workshops, visiting designers, the annual Headlands Center for the Arts Retreat, exhibitions for studio and year-end work, and access to the Materials Library.
